A NEW GENERATION OF ART TILE
Cedar & Moss founder Michelle Aaro has long dreamed of creating a lighting collection featuring sculptural tile with vintage glazes. As luck would have it, Portland is home to revered Pratt & Larson, the premiere tile studio known for their rich, artisan glazes and dimensional art tile.
Pratt & Larson was founded in 1982 by the husband and wife team of Michael Pratt and Reta Larson. Their passion for ceramics, art, design and color fueled their success and sparked a revival of the art tile movement in the United States. In 2017, long time employees Anthony Asch and Belle Iskowitz purchased the company. Their shared goal is to continue Pratt & Larson’s studio craft tradition with an eye toward innovative, beautiful tile.

We partnered with hometown lighting company Rejuvenation on three exclusive licensed collections designed by Cedar & Moss founder Michelle Aaro. The modernist silhouettes of these designs complement the lights from our own studio collection, making mixing and matching from both catalogues effortless.

For our collaboration, three art tiles were created drawing inspiration from northwest regional sculptors and ceramic artists from the 1960s & 70s. The designs celebrate both Pratt & Larson’s heritage and our shared Pacific Northwest design lineage. One tile features one of founder Michael Pratt’s designs plus two original designs from new company owners, Belle & Anthony. The past and future are beautifully celebrated with this meaningful collection.
Each new sconce features a lovely, low profile linen shade that elegantly diffuses light in all directions and highlights the beautiful dimensional tile texture and artisan glaze.
